After retiring from professional football and finding success in the construction and real estate industries, HRT Contractors President & CEO, Henry Taylor, started the Take Action Now (TAN) Youth Foundation in 2014 to provide life skills in the areas of physical activity and healthy eating to youth in the local community. South Carolina continues to be ranked in the top ten nationally for obesity and health-related issues. Many of these issues impact a family’s physical, mental, and financial health. When coupled with decreased funding for many health programs and preventative screenings, the effects of poor diet and lack of nutritional education in our state are compounded. The Take Action Now team aims to tackle some of these issues with initiatives in healthy eating, physical fitness, and education in many underserved areas.

TAN Youth Foundation works with local schools, local officials, and local healthcare providers to provide community programming directed toward our mission. The founder, Henry Taylor, grew up and played HS football in the service area and still has strong ties and a deep love for the community. The Healthy Foods initiative provides meals to participants and sends food home with camp participants to assist families as a whole. The health screening/services are provided with all programming and are open to the community as a whole.
